Pearl restringing brings us an interesting post every week. We receive pearls in old envelopes, baked beans tins (yes!) and packages of all shapes and sizes. Yesterday we posted back to one of our customers this beautiful pearl necklace. Found on a beach, the pearls were in a bad need of restringing. The clasp is really beautiful; made of gold and little gems, it’s probably quite old and was originally on a different necklace. Pearl restringing is an art learnt over many years. It takes patience and cool hands to keep the silk threads at the same tension and deft fingers to make the knots between each pearl even.
Pearl restringing isn’t widely available so we receive pearl jewellery from all over the UK – along with some amazing stories about what has happened to broken and lost items of jewellery!
